Lauderdale-by-the-Sea guests are already dialed in on the water. You came for the reef, the pier, the beach diving. A real offshore day is the natural next step. Cool Runnings runs a 32 ft Contender out of Cox Landing in Fort Lauderdale, about 15 minutes south of Anglin's Pier via A1A.

Most LBTS visitors book a hotel on El Mar Drive because they want the ocean out the window. That same reef line you snorkel is where we start our morning. The second reef sits about half a mile off Anglin's Pier.
We idle over it in twenty minutes, and bottom rigs go down first for mutton snapper and yellowtail.
Then we push out to the color change for pelagics. Sailfish stack up on the ledge from November through March. Mahi run the weed lines April through July.
Kingfish and blackfin tuna fill in the shoulder months. This is where a private offshore charter out of Fort Lauderdale beats anything you can do from the pier. We have live bait, kite rods, and downriggers already rigged.
The drive from LBTS to Cox Landing is straightforward. Take A1A south past Sunrise Boulevard, cross the 17th Street Causeway, and turn into the landing. Fifteen minutes without traffic.
Parking is free and simple. No downtown Fort Lauderdale headache, no valet, no meter feeding.
Reef fishing stays on the table if you want a shorter, calmer day. Our bottom fishing trips out on the local reefs and wrecks stick tight to the ledges you can see from shore. Kids do well on these.
Grouper, snapper, and porgies keep rods bent. You are back at the dock by lunchtime and back at the Windjammer pool by one.

OUR NEIGHBORHOODS IN LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA
ANGLIN'S PIER & CENTRAL LBTS
The historic core around Commercial Boulevard and Datura Avenue. Anglin's Fishing Pier is the anchor, and the small hotel row wraps around it. Guests here can walk to Aruba Beach Cafe for a post-trip beer. Cox Landing is a fifteen minute drive south.
EL MAR DRIVE BEACHFRONT
The oceanfront strip of boutique hotels and mid-rise condos north of the pier. Windjammer Resort sits here. Most of our LBTS bookings come from this stretch because guests already spend the day watching the reef line from their balcony.
TERRAMAR & PALM CLUB
Quieter residential blocks between A1A and the Intracoastal. Snowbirds rent condos here for the season. Walkable to town but away from the beach crowd. Easy A1A access straight down to the 17th Street Causeway.
BOUGAINVILLA DRIVE & SEA RANCH LAKES BORDER
The north end of LBTS where the town blends into Sea Ranch Lakes. Bigger single-family homes on the Intracoastal, some with private docks. Guests here sometimes ask if we can pick up dockside. We cannot, but the drive to Cox Landing is still short.
Local Knowledge
WHAT MAKES LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA FISHING UNIQUE
The main thing LBTS guests need to know is that we do not launch from Anglin's Pier or anywhere in town. Cool Runnings docks at Cox Landing in Fort Lauderdale. That trips people up when they book because they assume the boat sits at the pier.
It does not. Plan on the fifteen minute drive south, and leave the hotel by 6:00 AM for a 6:30 AM departure. Traffic on A1A is light that early.
Parking at Cox Landing is free and open. There is no gate, no attendant, no meter. Bring a light jacket even in summer because the ride out is breezy.
Reef water off LBTS sits close to shore, so if the ocean is bumpy we can tuck inside and still fish productively. That flexibility matters more here than it does for guests coming from downtown hotels.
One local note. Anglin's Pier fishes into shallow water, twenty to thirty feet. That is snapper and jack territory, not sailfish territory.
If someone at your hotel says the fishing off the pier is slow, that does not mean offshore is slow. The two are different worlds. We push to sixty to two hundred feet where the real pelagic action lives.
