Tackle and gear loaded on the Cool Runnings boat before a Fort Lauderdale fishing charter

Before You Step On The Boat

Charter Info

What is included, what to bring, how trips are structured, and how to lock in a date. Everything you need to know to roll into the marina ready to fish.

We Bring

What's Included on Every Trip

The boat shows up loaded. Your job is to show up with sun protection and a smile.

Rods, reels & tackle

Conventional, spinning, and kite gear matched to the day's target species and depth.

Bait & lures

Fresh live and dead bait selected at the dock that morning. Trolling spread, jigs, and rigs ready to go.

Florida fishing licenses

Your party is covered under the captain's saltwater charter license. No license run to the bait shop required.

Ice & coolers

Iced coolers on board to keep every keeper cold from rail to ride home.

USCG safety gear

Coast Guard life jackets, flares, radios, GPS, and a fully stocked first aid kit.

Catch cleaning at the dock

Every keeper cleaned, filleted, and bagged for you at the end of the trip.

You Bring

What to Pack

Short list. Pack the night before. Set it by the door so you can roll into the marina without a scramble.

Sun protection

Reef-safe sunscreen (SPF 30+), wide-brim hat, polarized sunglasses on a strap, and a long-sleeve UPF sun shirt.

Soft-soled shoes

Closed-toe deck shoes, boat sneakers, or sandals with heel straps. No flip-flops, they slide on a wet deck.

Food & drinks

Sandwiches, fruit, jerky, granola bars, plenty of water. Beer and cocktails allowed in moderation.

Motion sickness meds

If you are prone, take Bonine or non-drowsy Dramamine one hour before departure, not at the dock.

Camera or phone

A waterproof case or dry bag is smart. Some of the best fish photos happen in the first ten minutes of the bite.

Light jacket

Even South Florida mornings can be cool at 30 knots running offshore. Layer up for the pre-dawn run.

Pick Your Slot

Trip Length Options

~4 hours

Half-Day

The most popular slot. Great for inshore action, reef trips, and quick offshore runs when the sailfish or mahi bite is close in. Best for kids, beginners, and groups on a tight schedule.

~6 hours

Three-Quarter Day

The flexible middle option. Hit shallow reef and the deeper wrecks on the same trip, or work a longer offshore pattern for sailfish, mahi, and tuna. Often the captain's pick.

~8 hours

Full Day

Serious offshore chasing, multi-species days, deep-drop bottom trips, and the best shot at a billfish or trophy fish. Pre-dawn departure for the dawn bite.

Boat Capacity

Cool Runnings is a private charter only. Maximum four anglers on the boat, with two to three the sweet spot for full rod time when the bite turns on. The 32 ft Contender has a wide, dry cockpit, a comfortable cabin, and an enclosed head for longer trips. Groups bigger than four should reach out about logistics options.

Pricing

Trip pricing varies by season, party size, and trip length. Call 954-588-0578 or use the Fort Lauderdale fishing trip booking form for current rates. Ask about our discount on your third trip booking. Standard captain's tip is fifteen to twenty percent in cash at the end of the trip.
