AVENTURA FISHING CHARTERS
Private fishing charters for Aventura anglers, departing from Cox Landing in Fort Lauderdale. Half, three-quarter, and full days on the 32-foot Contender.
Aventura is a short drive north from our home dock, which makes it a natural pickup zone for Miami-Dade anglers who want a short run to the Gulf Stream. Every Cool Runnings trip departs from Cox Landing in Fort Lauderdale, about fifteen to twenty minutes up US-1 from Turnberry Isle, the Waterways, or the Aventura Mall corridor. Once you're aboard the 32 ft Contender, Captain Jason runs south out through Port Everglades for sailfish and mahi offshore or the reef ledges for snapper and grouper, working the same blue water that runs right off the Aventura beach.
Aventura sits between the Intracoastal and Biscayne Boulevard, tucked against Golden Beach and Sunny Isles to the east. The neighborhood is dense with luxury high-rise condos and hotels along Country Club Drive and the Waterways, which makes it a great home base for guests booking an offshore fishing trip. Cool Runnings does not launch out of Aventura or Haulover Inlet, though. The boat, the crew, and the tackle all live at Cox Landing in Fort Lauderdale, and Aventura guests drive up to meet the boat at the dock rather than the boat coming to them.
The Gulf Stream sits about five miles off the Aventura beach, close enough that a half-day offshore trip has real time on the fish. From Cox Landing, Captain Jason runs south past Hollywood, drops into the color change east of Sunny Isles, and sets the trolling spread over the same water Aventura anglers see from their balcony. Sailfish stack up on this ledge in winter, mahi and blackfin tuna in the shoulder seasons, and kingfish year-round. Groups who want a less blue-water day can also work the reef line at 100 to 150 ft off Golden Beach for mutton snapper, mangrove snapper, and the occasional gag grouper.
Inshore trips for Aventura guests target the flats and channels of northern Biscayne Bay, Dumfoundling Bay, and the boat basins around Williams Island. Snook hold tight to the mangroves at Oleta River State Park, and tarpon roll through the deeper cuts near Haulover during the spring migration. Our Rhodan trolling motor moves the boat quietly along the seawalls without spooking fish, which matters for the picky snook that live under the Aventura dock lights.
Aventura anglers booking through the winter should ask about kite fishing for sailfish, when live goggle eyes off the kites in 150 to 250 ft of water produce double and triple hookups on the right day. Read the full charter breakdown before you book, and see how Sunny Isles Beach trips compare for guests torn between the two neighboring markets.
Where We Pick You Up
OUR NEIGHBORHOODS IN AVENTURA
TURNBERRY ISLE & COUNTRY CLUB DRIVE
The Turnberry Isle Resort and the condos along Country Club Drive are the densest luxury pocket in Aventura. Guests here book premium half-day offshore trips, often on short notice, and drive straight north on US-1 to meet the boat at Cox Landing in under twenty minutes.
THE WATERWAYS
The Waterways neighborhood between Country Club Drive and Biscayne Boulevard is a walkable district with hotels, restaurants, and residential condos on the canal. Anglers staying at the Waterways Shoppes area often combine an early offshore push out of Cox Landing with a late lunch on the water. Two adults with kids fits the four-guest Contender cockpit comfortably.
WILLIAMS ISLAND
Williams Island sits on Dumfoundling Bay with its own marina and yacht club, popular with residents who charter frequently. Repeat clients here drive up to Cox Landing to board Cool Runnings for full-day trips that mix offshore trolling for mahi and sailfish with an afternoon shift to the reef for snapper. The private-island vibe pairs well with the small-group format.
EAST AVENTURA & GOLDEN BEACH BORDER
The eastern edge of Aventura runs into Golden Beach, one of the quietest oceanfront pockets in Miami-Dade. Groups staying in the Golden Beach houses drive to Cox Landing to fish with Captain Jason on the four-guest Contender. The straight run north up A1A takes about twenty-five minutes.
Local Knowledge
WHAT MAKES AVENTURA FISHING UNIQUE
The main scheduling challenge for Aventura anglers is not the water, it is the drive to the dock. Cool Runnings launches every trip from Cox Landing in Fort Lauderdale, so an Aventura pickup means twenty to twenty-five minutes up US-1 first, and morning traffic through the Aventura Mall interchange can add ten minutes on weekends. Captain Jason builds that buffer into the morning schedule and most trips leave the dock by 6:30 or 7 a.m. to catch the tide push out of Port Everglades.
Once the boat leaves the slip, the offshore program is functionally identical to a Hollywood or Fort Lauderdale trip because it is the same boat and the same Gulf Stream water. Captain Jason simply runs the 32 ft Contender south past Hollywood and drops the spread on the ledges off Aventura and Sunny Isles instead of turning north. The advantage for Aventura guests is that the fishing grounds sit right off their beach, so you spend the offshore hours on the ledge you can see from your balcony rather than a stretch of water an hour away.
Winter cold fronts move fish tight to the beach, which means a productive half-day trip on the water off Aventura in January often does not need to push more than three miles offshore. Summer bite runs deeper and the boat may need to work weed lines further east. Captain Jason calls the route each morning based on the wind, the tide, and where the bait is stacked.
