Hallandale Beach fishing charter departing the Cool Runnings dock

Broward County, Florida

HALLANDALE BEACH FISHING CHARTERS

Private fishing charters for Hallandale Beach anglers, departing from Cox Landing in Fort Lauderdale. Half, three-quarter, and full days on the 32-foot Contender.

Hallandale Beach guests fish the same stretch of Gulf Stream that runs past Golden Isles and the A1A high-rises. We just launch twenty minutes north. Cool Runnings docks at Cox Landing in Fort Lauderdale, a straight shot up Federal Highway or I-95 from Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

I'm Captain Jason, and the Hallandale crowd I run tends to be two groups. Weekenders staying at the Diplomat or Beach Club who want half a day on the water, and locals from Three Islands or the Golden Isles canals who fish with me every winter. Both get the same private 32 ft Contender and the same reef edge off their own beach. Grab a date on the Cool Runnings booking calendar.

The run from Cox Landing to the water directly off Hallandale takes about fifteen minutes once we clear Port Everglades. That is the stretch of ledge between the Dania south jetty and Haulover Inlet, and it fishes identically to what you see from your balcony on South Ocean Drive. The reef climbs fast here, with the second drop sitting inside two miles and the Gulf Stream edge well within five.

Winter is the headline season. From December through March, sailfish push down the Broward coast and stack up in 120 to 200 feet of water right in front of Hallandale.

Kite fishing with live goggle eyes on north wind days is the top play, and the Contender is already rigged with twin kites and a full spread. Blackfin tuna and kingfish share the same water, so a slow sailfish morning still produces a cooler.

Spring and summer flip to mahi offshore and tarpon inshore. The weed lines run two to six miles off Hallandale, and schoolie mahi stack under floating debris during the April through July window. For families who want steady action instead of pelagic hunting, mutton snapper and yellowtail on the reef stay consistent year-round.

Hallandale sits right on the Broward and Miami-Dade line, so our pickup radius pulls in guests from both counties. The drive north on I-95 is quick before 7 AM and parking at Cox Landing is free and open. Pull photos from the recent Cool Runnings catch gallery to see what the boat has been boxing lately.

Where We Pick You Up

OUR NEIGHBORHOODS IN HALLANDALE BEACH

GOLDEN ISLES

The canal-front streets east of Three Islands Boulevard and west of A1A, where private docks line most of the backyards. Golden Isles residents who already run their own skiffs often book me for the offshore day they don't want to take their own boat on, especially during sailfish season. Pickup is a quick ten minutes to the dock.

THREE ISLANDS & HALLANDALE BEACH BOULEVARD

The condo cluster between Three Islands Boulevard and A1A, including the Beach Club, Olympus, and the older Hollywood-line towers. This is my biggest Hallandale pickup zone. Guests here grab an Uber up Federal Highway and are at the boat in twenty minutes with no traffic.

GULFSTREAM PARK & WEST HALLANDALE

The racetrack and casino cluster at Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Federal Highway anchors the west side of town. Groups staying at the Village at Gulfstream Park or the nearby hotels book trips as a break from the track. The drive to Cox Landing from here is a straight I-95 run, fifteen minutes before rush hour.

SOUTH OCEAN DRIVE & DIPLOMAT CORRIDOR

The high-rise strip along South Ocean Drive just south of the Diplomat is technically Hollywood on paper, but most guests staying this far south call it Hallandale. Pickup here is easy via A1A south through Hollywood and onto the 17th Street Causeway.

Local Knowledge

WHAT MAKES HALLANDALE BEACH FISHING UNIQUE

Hallandale guests sometimes ask about launching from Haulover Inlet instead of driving north to Fort Lauderdale. The Haulover fleet is good, but it is heavy on shared drift boats and the private sportfishing options there are thin. The Broward tournament boats cluster around Port Everglades and Hillsboro Inlet, which is why Cool Runnings sits where it does.

The twenty-minute drive north buys you a private 32 ft Contender rigged for the water you actually came to fish. From Cox Landing I run south along the beach and we are dropping lines directly off the Hallandale ledge in about fifteen minutes. The water you fished from the pier yesterday is the same water we work from the deck today.

Traffic on A1A through Hollywood can slow you down after 7 AM, so I schedule most Hallandale departures to clear the dock by 6:30 or 7 AM. Federal Highway and I-95 both run fine that early. For afternoon or evening trips during the summer tarpon run, we can push back the departure and still beat sunset on the inshore side.

The reef right off Hallandale sees weekend pressure from drift boats out of Haulover, so we often work slightly north toward the Dania and Fort Lauderdale ledges where the productive numbers hold up better. The run time stays about the same either way, and the catch almost always tips in favor of running north on busy weekends.
